Renee July 4: A Day for our Country

We kicked back today for some much needed down time. We were tired of being in the car and looked forward to spending leisure time in the heated pool here at the RV resort. But of course first on the agenda was laundry. Today dawned hot and sunny, and the kids have been pestering for some swimming. We then took advantage of the free ice cream in the clubhouse. Leah now loves huckleberry ice cream. We had a traditional American Fourth of July lunch of Fried chicken, and then a much needed nap!

We had been asking the locals where the best fireworks display would be. Believe it or not, though we have issues with our RV Park, namely our proximity to the train tracks, we are actually also in close proximity to the Columbia River. On the Washington side of the river, Vancouver puts on an incredible display that presents over the bluff. Along with that we are actually in close proximity to Blue Lake just east of our location, on our side of the river at which another big celebration was happening.

So we opted to stay right where we were and found a hillside in the park, spread out a blanket, and watched all the shows. We were treated to a great many displays over the river beginning about 9:30 and lasting well after 10:30. We celebrated the birth of our county and then went to bed happy we live in America!

Leah July 4: The 4th of July!

Today is the 4th of July! We stayed home and we didn’t drive around or anything. We stayed in the campsite.

We did a lot of things today. First we did the laundry. Matt and I waited until all of the adults got out of the hot tub before we got in. After about 15 minutes, we went to the regular pool with Bryce. Compared to the hot tub the regular pool was cold. We stayed in the pool for a long time. When we got out of the pool we walked back to the RV to have lunch. After lunch we went to the clubhouse to get some free ice cream. I got some chocolate chip ice cream. My mom couldn’t finish hers so I got to have her huckleberry ice cream. It was so good! After we finished our ice cream we went swimming a second time. We didn’t stay in as long because we had to have dinner so that we could get ready for the fireworks.

When we got to our spot for the show we found out that we could see a lot of different shows. The fireworks stopped right after 10:30. It was beautiful. My camera stopped working in the middle of the show. But it started working right at the finale so I got a few of those pictures. After the show we went back to the RV and went to bed.

Matt July 4: Merry Christmas...NOT!

Today was the Fourth of July. Today we had to wash landrey. After we washed the landrey we went swimming. The pool was packed! There was like fifty people in the area! After, we went back to the motor home and watched TV. Since it was the Fourth of July, the office gave out free ice cream. We saw that there was nobody in the pool. After we were done eating we got on our swimsuits and went swimming again. Leah and I played volleyball and mom taught Bryce how to swim.

Here's Grandma
Rounding off our day we watched the fireworks. They were cool but not as good as last years in Montana. After they were done we walked back to the RV and went to bed.
