Matt, June 20, Oregon Caves

Today we drove into Oregon. It was a short driving day. Before we got to the campground we stopped at the Oregon Caves. At the caves we went into the cave. The temperature inside the cave was 42*F. The Cave even had running water in it. Our tour gide even told us the story of how the cave was found.

Here it is: On 1874 a man named Elijah Davidson was hunting in the woods with his dog Bruno. One day Elijah's dog Bruno tracked a black bear. They tracked the bear into the cave and Elijah's light burned out and Bruno ran off and left Elijah in the dark. Elijah went on but didn't find his dog. So he hiked out and went to sleep. He awoke in the morning to something licking his face. It was Bruno! Elijah found the bear sleeping outside the cave and he shot it. Thats how the Oregon caves were found.

In the cave we were about 3/4 of the way out. The gide told us that people found jagwar bones in the cave! Just ahead ther was also bear bones. Then we hiked out of the cave and went down to the coffe shop and got milk shakes. Then we drove back to the RV. After we got there we drove to the campsite in Grants Pass.
